"The world found a vision through the initiative taken by Carnegie Mellon University and it is due to this imagination and creative brilliance that the global knowledge is increasingly becoming available to everybody, free of cost, through the Universal Digital Library (UDL). This initiative is now drawing support from centres across the world and is focused around scanning and management of content available in the form of text (books, journals, magazines, etc).

"The 4th International Conference On Universal Digital Library (ICUDL) has found its path towards India after a circuitous route through USA, Egypt and China. Rightly so too, as India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world and there is a treasure trove of a unique dialect, language, folklore, remedies, songs, dances and stories, which exists in each and every countless villages of India."
