Another Startup Weekend event comin' atcha!

"ATDC is once again pleased to serve as host sponsor of Atlanta Startup Weekend! Clayton Stobbs officially announced the Atlanta event earlier today.

"There is huge interest for Startup Weekend in Atlanta. The city garnered over 1,700 votes on the Startup Weekend City Vote page. I expect this event to sell out in short order. It costs $39.99 to register which basically helps offset the costs of putting on the event. If you want to attend but the forty bills is beyond your means let me know and we will figure something out.

"This year the number of participants will be increased to over 100. We are able to do this as the format is changing from last year. We will not be focusing on a single concept as we did with last year with Skribit. This year we will move as many concepts forward as the community is willing to support, hence we can have more people involved without getting too many cooks in one kitchen."

I will list (and have!) many of these events and I just love the concept. Spend a weekend with local business people, create a business, get it going! Brilliant.

Nashville Startup Weekend

Watch these closely my friend! I think these are a wonderful way to meet like-minded folks in your area and get business ideas going. I have seen them vaporize in a flash too though!

"Currently we have over 120 people participating in active conversations at the unofficial NSW site."

Yes, this one still looks active. Please, please check this and EVERY event before booking flights, hotel rooms and hiring a car! I've seen even the most solid organizations and people have to cancel for all sorts of reasons. I only know so much and report to you in a 'snapshot' fashion and things CHANGE! after I report and at the last minute.

Protect yourself by verifying everything you read, here and elsewhere for that matter! Make your experience the best it can be by doing your OWN research into these things!

Need a little more information first? I understand. Here ya go:

More than 100 bright, talented people will come together to develop and launch 10-12 companies in one marathon weekend. Friday night, the group will vote on ideas and choose the top dozen or so. After that, each participant will choose an idea/team to work on and spend the rest of the weekend putting everything together for a launch. When all is said and done, each participant will be a co-founder with an ownership interest in at least one honest-to-goodness startup.
