The EntreCard Results Are In For The johnchow.com Ad!

Ok, my ad is finished running on johnchow.com and I got a total of 60 clicks from there, according to the EC statistics area.

The view from google analytics, if what I'm seeing is in fact the 'source of traffic,' looks kind of weird and the number seems a little different. More like 48-49. Then about 17 from the johnchow.com site itself for that day.

I'm still very pleased because my blog was averaging 5-6 visits a day only a few weeks ago.

On Friday, 12/21 google analytics indicates a jump to 79 visits!

THAT is what they call "The John Chow Effect" as it creates a spike for another site.

I was pleasantly surprised at the 'bounce' rate as well. It was only 77.xx% for that day. My average is much higher some days.

So, did I experience the "John Chow effect" for my blog that day?? Oh Yeah!

I expect I'll go back into Entrecard and watch for my opportunity to run my ad on johnchow.com again.

Since I saw such good numbers early on for that Friday, I decided to set up a bunch more ads for the holidays. I think it has paid off very well.

I still have a few left to run. I got a lot of them from the blogs they list on their 'least wait' list (or whatever they call it). Some went right away, after approval and some will go in the next couple of days.

I have noticed a general trend in holiday traffic. It seems to be very good for my blog.

What about you?

Hi Pam! I have also an Entrecard and I think it is really useful these days, and it is really hot. By the way, I saw your site at showroom and I will vote for you not because you visit my blog recently, but because your blos is really worth to vote.

Congrats on the "chow effect"! Another good way to build traffic with entrecard is to find "find the newbies". Meaning, look for the blogs with less that 5 credits a day. Sure you may not get 60 clicks like JC's blog, BUT you may get between 3-10 unique vistitors (which will most likely cover your EC investment). And for the price it takes to advertise on chows blog, you can advertise of 50-100+ smaller blogs.

Imagine getting just 3-5 visitors from 50 different blogs! :D

guardian angel: Thank you for visiting, I'm glad you are enjoying the site. I think I HAVE been to your site as I saw your comment elsewhere and clicked on your blogger profile.

I'll go there this week for sure! This Entrecard thing is addictive!!

tevin: Thanks for visiting, I appreciate your comment. I will look into the strategy you suggest. I was getting 'soonest' to take advantage of the holidays. It seems like people visit my site in greater when they are off of work or something.

I'm still learning!

I would enjoy a chance to visit yoru site as well. I don't see a way to do that from your comment here. Feel free to add that any time!

Although it is great that you got more traffic with the so called "john chow effect" but what did you do with the traffic when it arrived. Did any of the visitors leave comments, did any of your google ads convert into click, did anyone donate money to your paypal button etc.

John Chow is over rated and not worth wasting your credits on.

Hey debo!

So nice of you to stop by again.

I never know what extra traffic might do for me. I'm willing to see by giving it a try.

There are other things that can be gained from getting more visits during the month.

All of this is fairly new to me and I'm very happy to get out of my 'analysis paralysis' by doing something! Believe me, this is a big step forward for me.

In general, I think that there is something to be said for getting eyeballs on the site - everyone knows someone else and I never know when someone will refer someone else and they might become my biggest supporter.

I've been in a 'class' with Bob Jenkins (i even got a sign up for the Seminar!) so thank you for waiting for my response.

I appreciate your comment,
